Patriotflix will be a one stop site featuring music and videos that cover controversial topics including political issues, social issues and a host of other issues.

Jason's Role.

The client wanted to have a website where he could consolidate all the music and videos he could find. He requested several features that one would find on websites like Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu. These features include:

• Dynamically created menues and content
• Displaying movies & music by category & topic
• Scrolling through movies by category
• Searching for movies & music by Category
• Searching for movies & music by Topic
• Movie/Music information in tooltips
• Administrative content management system
• And much more

Upon visiting Patriot Flix, you will notice four different sections representing each of the main categories. Each one enables visitors to scroll through movies in its respective category. This concept mimics the way Netflix displays movies on several sections of their website.

The categories of include: New, Classic, Other and Music. Each category has a corresponding link in the main menu bar which takes the visitor to a new page. When you click on one of the category tabs at the top, you will be taken to the corresponding page. On this page will be up to 16 movies listed. You will then be able to click a link at the top or bottom of the list to scroll to the next 16 movies (if they exist for that category). For each of these categories, there are also Topics that appear on the right side of the movies in the form of hyperlinks. Because Topics can be added “on the fly” in the administrative CMS, the topic links to the right are dynamically created when the page is loaded to insure that any new topic that was recently added will be available to all visitors imediately.

Displaying Individual Movies

When a visitor clicks on one of the movies, they are then taken to a page that is dynamically created, showing all the information about that particular movie or song. At the top is the name, image, a link to purchase the DVD or CD, a link to the trailer, which is at the bottom of the page (if available), and the full length movie embedded in the page. The page also includes details, director, editor, soundtrack info. actors, and a lot more.

The Administrative Backend

The administrative backend enables the client to add movies, cast, images, and other details that are then pulled from the database and added to the pages on the front end of the website for the world to see.
